Sindh chief secretary Mohammad Aslam Sanjarani has said that health, education, water supply & sanitation, transport and resolution of the social problems of basic nature, are among his top priorities.

He said by promoting co-ordination between provincial and local government and adopting the principles of understanding and cohesion, the best strategy is being followed so that people could get rid of basic problems and socio-economic development could be ensured.

He expressed these views while issuing directives to officials concerned for resolution of problems faced by people, during a meeting with general public at his office here on Saturday.

The chief secretary asked the people for writing down their complete addresses on applications so that the concerned departments could easily contact them for resolving the issues.

About apprehensions of people with regard to the problems in expected rains in Karachi, the chief secretary clarified that an action plan has been formulated for the officers of the City Government and other relevant departments.

They have been directed to make the sewerage system effective for draining out rainwater from roads and streets, besides cleaning of storm-water drains.

Besides this, effective steps be taken for maintaining electric supply during rains.

He said the traffic police have been instructed to discharge their responsibilities with promptness to avoid traffic jams.

While DCO Karachi, officers of local government and other relevant departments have been alerted for ensuring smooth functioning of sewerage system to avoid accumulation of water on roads and in low-lying areas of the city and katchi abadies, he added.

In view of re-opening of educational institutions after summer vacations, traffic police have been directed to remain alert for redressing the difficulties faced by students of schools and colleges during travel, he said.
